Morocco and the United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the aim of enhancing their cooperation in cybersecurity

19 October 2023, Dubai, United Arab Emirates:

In order to further strengthen their cooperation in cybersecurity and securing the digital space, the Directorate General of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Cybersecurity Council of the United Arab Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This historic agreement, signed on 19 October 2023 on the sidelines of the "GITEX GLOBAL-2023" trade fair in Dubai, reflects the commitment of both parties to collaborate on cybersecurity initiatives with the aim of meeting the growing challenges and risks in this area.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims to create a broad framework for cooperation between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates in the field of cyber security. Under the agreement, both parties recognise the critical role that cyber security plays in the success of their digital transformation efforts and in overall economic and social growth. As technological advances continue to accelerate, the need for stringent cybersecurity measures to address growing threats has become crucial.

The Memorandum of Understanding provides for the creation of a joint committee to plan and oversee the implementation of cooperative activities, in addition to setting timetables for these initiatives. Annual meetings of this committee are also planned, alternating between Morocco and the United States whenever necessary.
